About The Author

My name is Alexandra Antipa, and I am a writer. But, most importantly, I am a mother of a beautiful girl, who is about to turn three. She was extremely wanted and, now, I could not imagine my life without her. The idea of this book came to me one night, as I thought about how fast time flies. Childhood goes by quickly, but we remain with wonderful memories. And these memories often include our toys.

I wanted my daughter to have a part of her childhood forever. So, I decided to write a book about her and her best friend, a stuffed cat. She loves this cat to the moon and back, and I know that someday she will be too old for it. But, at least, through this story, she will have a memory of those times. I have included other toys that are dear to her, and I hope that, when she will be old enough, she will like the idea.

Why would the book appeal to children? Because it speaks to them. All children have a favorite toy, and I am confident they will find the stories about Lorelai and Niami so fun to read. I have tried to add plenty of twists and turns, so that one will feel the excitement that comes with turning the page and discovering how the story turned out. They can follow the clues and even try to identify the suspects on their own.

Children needs books like that. Books that help them see the magic of their own home, and how many possibilities it offers for play. We have spent a lot of time in our apartment, due to the Corona pandemic, and my daughter missed kindergarten so much. I turned every room into the setting of a potential story and we had a lot of fun. Hopefully, this book will inspire other parents to do the same.

Now, let me tell you a little about myself. I come from Romania but, for the past several years, I have been living in Germany. I have worked as a freelance writer and translator for many years now, but it was only recently I had the courage to write actual books. My first book, called “Stories for the Heart: When Memories Become a Treasure”, was self-published, last year, in October. It is a memoir about people I have loved and lost, and a project that meant a lot to me.

Writing is something I am tremendously passionate about. But this passion was not born in one night. It rather came from reading every book I came across. My favorite writers include Cornelia Funke, Elif Shafak, and Carlos Ruiz Zafón, just to name a few. Even though I am 35 years old, I still read books for children. Many of them, and especially the ones of Roald Dahl, I try to share with my daughter.
